Students of the Geotechnical Engineering major, Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology intern at the Cobble River Reinforcement project in Vinh Long province.
Throughout its development process, HUDECO Joint Stock Company has always valued and fulfilled its social responsibility towards the community, especially in the field of education and training human resources. One of the most evident proofs of this spirit is HUDECO's comprehensive partnership with students from the Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, through professional cooperation, practical activities, internships, scientific research, and career support.
On January 5, 2025, HUDECO Joint Stock Company, in collaboration with the Geotechnical Engineering Department, Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, organized a practical internship for students at the Cobble River Reinforcement project in Vinh Long province. The internship aimed to provide students with opportunities to learn and experience real-world situations in the field of geotechnical engineering, while combining theory and practice to enhance professional knowledge.
Through the trip, students participated in observing and researching the geological characteristics of the area where the Cobble reinforcement is being constructed, understanding the current status of riverbank erosion, and assessing the causes of this situation. This is an opportunity for students to better understand the geological factors that can affect construction projects, especially in river environments.
Students directly studied the structure and design of the embankment project, as well as construction methods, including the use of rock cages for riverbank reinforcement. HUDECO experts also introduced the monitoring system of the embankment project, helping students understand how to monitor and ensure safety for the project throughout the construction and operation process.
The internship helped students gain practical knowledge about construction projects, especially in the field of riverbank reinforcement. Moreover, they were able to engage in dialogue and direct exchanges with the project management board, sharing stories related to the profession. HUDECO partially helps students realize and take pride in the responsibilities of a Geotechnical Engineer, boosting their confidence for future work.
